Himmelwärts: An imaginative journey to the stars

When children's questions meet strong emotions, a special family experience begins in the backstage area of the Stadttheater Lindau: Himmelwärts humorously, empathetically, and imaginatively tells of friendship, loss, memories, and the infinite vastness of the universe.

A self-built space radio and a signal from outer space

Toni is ten years old and does not want to accept that her deceased mother is simply gone. Together with her best friend Yumyum, she builds a space radio. With marshmallows and chips in tow, the two set up camp in a tent and wait for a sign from the starry sky.

Then suddenly a woman's voice is heard: Zanna reaches out from the International Space Station (ISS). The astronaut talks about weightlessness and life in space. Meanwhile, the three discuss missing, memories, sadness, and the joy of life.

Talking to children about farewells, courage, and hope

The children's play based on Karen Köhler combines humor with a touching story. Children aged eight and above experience an age-appropriate learning experience that does not shy away from difficult topics but still allows room for lightness, curiosity, and hope.

The production provides families with a protected opportunity to talk about feelings, friendship, development, and the big questions of life after visiting the theatre. Imaginative images from gardens, starry skies, and space stations make the storyline vivid and invite further reflection together.

Theatre experience for the whole family

The production by the Young Württemberg State Theatre is directed by Catja Baumann. The set and costumes are by Gwendolyn Bahr. The stage features Timo Beyerling, Paula Dehner, Michaela Henze, and Nicky Taran.

The performance lasts about 70 minutes and takes place without an intermission. This keeps the family experience compact and focused. Children can attentively follow the story while adults discover a poetic yet humorous perspective on farewells and hope.

Conclusion: Wonder, feel, and ask further together

Himmelwärts gives families shared time filled with children's laughter, wonder, and reflective moments. The play combines space adventure, friendship, and emotional development into a special theatre visit for audiences from eight years old. Those looking for a touching, child-friendly family program in Lindau will experience a journey that resonates long after.
