We bought tickets for the Herbert Pixner Project concert on October 4, 2025, back in November 2024, full of anticipation. The architecture of the Bregenz Festival House is undoubtedly impressive – a monumental building that raises cultural expectations. However, the reception at the entrance was in stark contrast: Even before we could enter the building, we had to fight our way through clouds of smoke caused by a multitude of smoking visitors right at the entrance. For non-smokers – and especially for people with health sensitivities – this is an unacceptable start. The cloakroom situation was also tense. Since jackets had to be checked for security reasons, we faced another queue. Fortunately, we discovered the cloakroom lockers in time and managed to grab one of the last ones – a small ray of hope amidst organizational bottlenecks. Our seats (No. 26 and 27 in row 11) unfortunately offered little comfort. At 1.88 m tall, the space to the seat in front was simply too tight to place my legs properly. Seat 27 was right by the stairs, so sitting at an angle with my legs stretched out on the steps provided at least a bit of relief – but it wasn't comfortable. For taller people, the seating comfort in the festival house is, in our view, not adequate. The concert itself was an experience: musically captivating, sonically excellent, and perfectly balanced in volume. We were thrilled – the Herbert Pixner Project deeply moved us. The break was marked by massive crowding in the foyer. The streams of people were literally pushing towards the exit, and those who didn’t move were literally shoved. Unfortunately, the way back went again through the smoke clouds at the entrance – a repeated low point in an otherwise culturally high-caliber evening. Conclusion: We were absolutely thrilled by the concert – but unfortunately not at all by the festival house as a venue.

The Bregenz Festival House impresses from the outside with its modern architecture and unique location right by Lake Constance. Even without having attended an event, the visit was absolutely worthwhile. The atmosphere is inspiring, the grounds are well-kept, and the lakeside stage is a real highlight. A place that impressively combines culture and nature – highly recommended!

🎭 An unforgettable experience in Bregenz! This year we got to see the Freischütz in Bregenz – and it was simply magnificent! The ensemble was at an incredibly high level, both musically and in terms of performance. What impressed me the most: The majority of the performance took place in the water – in the rain! And yet the actors played through with full commitment. I have the utmost respect for that! The audience – us included – bravely sat in the rain and enthusiastically followed the play until the end. This shared perseverance made the experience even more special – almost a feeling of connection with the stage. You can feel how much passion and professionalism went into this production. I would come back anytime – it was a real highlight. Thank you Bregenz, thank you to everyone involved – that was pure theater magic!

Due to the bad weather situation, our performance of "Der Freischütz" by Carl Maria von Weber was moved to the Festival House. The ambiance in the Festival House is nice, but it certainly can't be compared to an open-air event on the lakeside stage. On a positive note, the organization was incredibly good after the performance on the lakeside stage was canceled 20 minutes before the official start, and the crowd of over 6000 spectators was either directed to the exit or escorted to the large hall. Very friendly staff, very calm and helpful!

It's all a matter of organization. Accompanying and catering to about 1000 visitors. Modern and clean. Excellent acoustics. Outstanding service. At lunchtime, during the food distribution, the staff could have been increased in number to cater to the large number of guests during the break.
